Our mission is to help unleash people's talent in research and development (R&D) by providing an online platform that allows researchers to focus their major efforts on doing research, instead of writing grants, to settle down anywhere on the ground without loss of access to unique resources (e.g., facilities, techniques, collaborators and funding), and to have their diverse careers developing at their own pace.

The General Labs Clound, LLC was founded in July 2014 as a startup company dedicated to development of the GLC platform. The concept of the General Labs Cloud was proposed by Dr. Yongxian Qian, PhD, who then was Assistant Professor of Radiology and Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and now is the founder of this startup company. We know very well how tough it is for both junior and senior researchers to keep their careers on track under a circumstance of tightened government research funding, under an unencouraging working environment, or under an unexpected personal/family situation.

The GLC platform was proposed as a solution to this issue. Beyond that, we also believe that the GLC platform represents a future model for people to do research in R&D: Build and run your own labs.
